return outside of function in javascript

Hi,
I am writing a react app and I am frustrated with this syntax error in a node-modules file 😀
“return is outside function”
“ var v3Err;
try {

module.exports = require(“chokidar”);
return;

} catch(e) {
v3Err = e;

Do you have any idea about how to solve it?
I have another general question: given that node modules are ready made files, am I really supposed to correct them?

Thank you!

The error is very self explanatory. The return statement in JavaScript can only be used in a function. I'm not understanding why you want to return anyway, there must be more context.
