Elapsed time as decimals?

I am trying to do a stopwatch using decimals
Not 1:30 but 1,5 h

I get a number. How do I calculate this into decimals?

 start = new Date().getTime();
alert(start + ” wait a moment”)
updated = new Date().getTime();
diff = updated – start;
alert(diff + ” diff as decimals?”)

If you want amount in decimal seconds: diff/1000/60

If you want amount in decimal minutes: diff/1000/60/60

If you want amount in decimal hours: diff/1000/60/60/60

Example last line of your code:

alert(diff + " diff as decimals? " + (diff/1000/60));
