I’m a programmer in training (self-taught) who was recommended App Academy’s free online course They use Ruby , Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and the MERN stack. In the past 2 1/2 months, it’s taught me so much about programming and I feel I really have a strong grasp on the basics of Ruby plus some TDD and Object oriented programming. I’m going to be learning about recursion next.
Although I am learning a lot, I feel really discouraged because I’m not where I want to be yet. I’m hearing that in order to get hired, I need to be able to make a fully functional Ruby on Rails app that can store data in a dB and have routes, views(don’t know what this is) , etc.
My question is what do I need to learn exactly to build a web app fast. I want to be job ready by February. But I’m worried that I’m not going to meet my goal in time. Can someone give me a little more insight realistically as to what I need to do to get job ready by Feb?
