I’m struggling with getting phpmyadmin running on XAMPP.
What’s running:
-I can connect to the database in the command prompt.
-I can execute SQL statements in the command prompt, e. g. create a table.
-Password is set to empty.
phpmyadmin’s user interface is showing up containing a login form. However it doesn’t allow to login without password. I set the corresponding value in the settings to true but no success. I also tried to set a password in xampp’s configuration for the DB but no success:

mysqli::real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)
Before installing xammp I used iisexpress and setting up phpmyadmin was easy: Unpack the files into a folder phpmyadmin, start index.php inside and done.
Any help is appreciated.
