Designing a website is indeed the challenging task. Small mistakes can ruin your efforts and time if you don’t care about it. Web design mistakes are not just including its look but other things which should be considered. Here are some of the prime focuses you need to pay enough attention on.

Don't hold your visitors on the introduction
Don't advertise within the content, you can lose visitors
Don’t make obscure links
Don’t use pop-ups
And one of the most important: thoroughly check your website for spelling and grammatical errors

1. most important features or purposes of website not on first page .
2. all feature or services not clearly listed out
3. not choosing appropriate font size
4. choosing images that has nothing to do with your domain of web

When you start designing of your site, then you must have clear goal about the site. Creating an attractive site for the users is not an easy task and you have to increase the user experience that users have to be able to nevigate fluently in the site otherwise you can lose the visitors.

I read the all points suggested above in this discussion,I want to share my personal view that Generally website is the soul of online business so don't miss a single step to manage your website well. I am sharing some of the common mistakes generally web master do and not get the good results. So avoid these and get lead in online business : Use proper call to action, content is stale, the website lacks mobile compatibility etc.

do not use audio
if you need audio, do not have it set to auto play
do not change the current browser window size, people don't like it
Use harmonious colouring schemes that are easy on the eye, if you need to use high contrast for your visitors who are partially sighted, use a recognized colour scheme.
Be screen reader friendly and set your title and tabindex tags.
don't use javascript to generate a site page dynamically, it makes accessibility an issue
if you need to use cookies then give the user the option to accept or decline them.
Avoid using JQuery and Google Analytics
don't have a "Click this link to like our site" message, people are visiting to see if they like your site.
if in doubt, don't do it, whatever it is you are thinking about...

Oh and one of the most important things is to have a good contract with your client. Saying what they can expect from you and have all the financial terms included.
Sometime we start to design without thinking of that stuff first
