1. You should use CSS, JS and image minifier compression.
Doesn't do much for code other than remove redundant line breaks and white space. Images can be compressed in to a format that is net ready but not many editors are as flexable as the one I use where you can even optimize the pallet so only cour information needed is embedded.
2. Use CSS,JS file as less as possible.
Use CSS as much as possible to take the weight off JS doing the styling.
No you don't, you put them in the <head> or call them as external files, what you do-do is to ONLY include relevant CSS or Scripting needs for that page, most people produce CSS and JS files of humongous size and use libraries like JQuery that still weigh in at a quarter meg.
