I don't like these iPhone and Android services that track you.
Given the US Government case on having iPhone unlock a terrorists phone, keep in mind that their insistence that they were protecting their clients data was and is a lame excuse considering that Apple pioneered the first phones with tracking ability and this was not discovered until people started cracking open their old phones and discovering just how much they had been duped and ripped off.
So when it came to mobile phones, I was specifically checking what phones had settings that would switch off GPS, BlueTooth, WiFi, NFC and only have those on when I turn them on.
So they are off, until I do need them.
I have not upgraded the base OS in the phone and its worked just fine until recently.
I don't often use my phone to take pictures, it may be a 20.7 MP CCD in it but the quality is nothing compared to my compact digital or my Nikon D7000 or the D3000 I had before that...
Anyway, to the point...
Suddenly, despite everything being off in the GPS, WiFi, BlueTooth, NFC departments, noticed that all the recent pictures I have taken since Google Play updated software I use on the phone has suddenly been asking me to rate places I was at like my local shop, the park 30 miles away in another county and my friends place of work that I give a lift to work some days... and you get the idea, I did nothing to turn this feature on.
IMHO this was a payload in the Google Maps update that initiated this. I also note that my phone keeps on telling me that google mpas has stopped working, another clue to something going on...
Google maps is something I hardly use, I have a satnav for that, if I use maps, its on my PC not my mobile, I only turn everything on when I need it and have no option but to use google maps when I am lost, I often use a 3rd party map that doesn't track.
I think I am going to find my old Nokia 1100 phone and start back with that, fed up of this being tracked business, I have noted things like I see adverts appearing on my PC for places I have been near, passed or been in.
IDK about the rest of the hive mind of the internet, but I am fed up of this happening.
It is clear to me that they are using services behind our backs and I have noted that battery life is sporadic, sometimes I get 3 days and others I get 6 hours, the 3 days occur after I forcibly stop services that won't stop after being turned on.
These problems never existed before the google maps update, I always had good battery life, sometimes I can get 6 days if I haven't used the phone, keep all settings off and run in a minimalist mode BUT GOOGLE KEEPS ON TURNING CRAP ON...
Thats whats making me the angriest of all, the fact that they have got no regard for my phone, it is my phone, not theirs, it may be their operating system BUT it is my hardware that is an ARM based architecture that is used in computers, routers and lots of other kit, its a computer in its own right, so I see the same laws apply to my phone, mobile devices as to my home PC and they're not doing that.
Has anyone else noted off behaviour in their phones, tablets?
If not, then this may be a heads up for you to pay attention...
