Http server configuration

I can install any http server on my cloud server, so i am eager to hear your experience.I want to upload file.txt on server over http protocol. No authentication required.

Question: How to configure the server (your experience) and what is required?

Background: I am developing c++ client,but first i need server to handle requests.

Personally I do it with VPSrobots:

- Deploy AMP(Apache, MySQL, PHP):

https://vpsrobots.com/documents/how-to-deploy-amp-apachemysqlphp-with-vpsrobots.html

- Upload file with it's built-in sftp file browser:

Windows OS only.

@rootAug 14.2018 — This is not a configuration thing, its programming and your selevtion of tags is not helpful.

You need to be looking at PHP or similar server-side for this and the site is for helping with code issues where you have code you wrote and have issues with it.

As you described, I thought you were looking to a more convenient way to install LAMP for your servers, and an easy way to upload files on the servers.

@jaffrayAug 15.2018 — Make the folder permission public write and watch it explode. lol.

There are lots of public PHP apps on git you can install on Apache

1. Look up how to install LAMP on your OS

2. Install the PHP script and follow instructions

"Zip File" is a good php app.

Hum... If the OP meant to refer to install LAMP on his servers and upload files on the server, then how does a server-end app is better than a client one? the servers will have their hard days if they are not such rich in resources.

@rootAug 15.2018 — Excuse me but has the logic train left early?

You do not "UPLOAD" a server, you upload the data like the database files and the .php files and folders to the server because the host has already set up the working environment for the site to be supported.

There is no installing lamp as the server is already running its environment.

People using thewi term "Cloud" don't seem to understand that a web server is a cloud server, any service that is on, uses, usedby users or systems on a network is a server or seen as a cloud service.

I tell you, this person going around renaming stuff need a lead poisoning warning....

@CerstvyauthorAug 16.2018 — No http server support upload of static files,it has to go trough php, i consider my question answered.

@rootAug 16.2018 — @Cerstvy#1594961 Pardon?

All servers either upload via FTP or another ftp method, if you are not paying for web hosting, then expect to be restricted by whatever the host has put in place.

Do you understand internet technology and the protocols? Ever heard of FTP?

If the web host you are using is not giving you FTP access. then I suggest you look elsewhere as its looking like there is something iffy about the host you are using.

@CerstvyauthorAug 17.2018 — @root#1594963 I installed nginx alone and tried post request. It is not supported. I need to install also php what will handle my post request. I will play with the code and if any issue ,i will come with the code to discuss errors.

Two years ago i passed trough php training and now do not remeber the thing))

@rootAug 17.2018 — I really am finding it hard to believe that your web hosting comapany have no cPanel or system in place that you can simply request these things you need to be turned on.

Generally with hosting, you ARE NOT ALLOWED to upload scripts (in the meaning of programs and installers) and run them on the server (exception being the website pages that render the web page) or install to a server any software or offer software for download or set up services like you are setting up, namely a proxy.

It is the job of the web host to support ot not as they see fit to work within their company policy and to ensure that their bandwidth and services are not being abused by users.

A proxyserver is something I think that most web hosts would object to having clients run as it is a clear business setting and you are not likely buying business services, if you were, you wouldn't be here.

So I ask you again, have you spoken to your web host company at all?

This is something that you should be doing.

@CerstvyauthorAug 17.2018 — I have my own server hosted in the cloud, this means it is possible to install any webserver,scripting language,database,etc...

@ginerjmAug 17.2018 — I never realized (since I don't use it!) that the cloud was anything more than a repository for files, not servers, etc. As Root says, usually a host (ie, this cloud) doesn't support things that can by themselves harm the host which I'm thinking that an individual server might be able to do. So what url does one use to access a server that is located in a cloud server?

"Having" your own server hosted, depends on the hosting terms, you can find different things with hosts. Even if the equipment is yours, it does not automatically mean that you can host whatever you like off that network, that is again another fundamental assumption that many people make, that just because... they can... and often they can't and I will wager that you will need a port opening to the server by the web host.
