@SEOlympicOct 16.2018 — Hi,

I am Makkai Matyas, the CEO of SEOlympic, a professional Digital Marketing company.

A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs.

It is created using a special HTML tag, which is a sign for the search engine to DO NOT take that backlink in cosideration.

The main purpose of the existence of Nofollow Backlinks is to prevent black hat SEO experts from building millions of spam backlinks. Basically website's like Wordpress, Wikipedia automatically assigns the no follow link attribute to all user-submitted links. It takes away an opportunity from Black Hat SEO specialists to build a large amount of Backlinks from popular platforms.

If you have more questions or are interested in SEO,

Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Best Regards,

Makkai

@JasonXorOct 22.2018 — No, they are not. Whether a backlink is no-follow still, it has some impact on the linking domain. So never go away a chance to get the backlink if it is no-follow. A student with a good brain in studies can give your school name and fame with great marks but that doesn't mean that student who is poor in studies but great in sports can't provide the name and fame to school.

@NovedloDec 14.2018 — Nope, not useless I think. According to my little experience in SEO no-follow link helps to drive website traffic a lot.

@isoft110Dec 14.2018 — Nofollow links still can be useful if they generate any traffic.

@F5StudioDec 14.2018 — @sonamg9291710#1596826 Links like "follow" and "nofollow" equivalently pumped up the reference profile of your website. Of course, it all depends on the quality of the first and second type of links.

"nofollow" links increase the probability of getting new customers, the issue is that they don't favour any PR. on the contrary, follow links can boost up the number of visitors on the web page and thus increase your web page rank. However if ''follow" backlinks are placed on dead website, they became useless as they do not attract any visitors.

In conclusion, both "follow" and "nofollow" backlinks are useless.

@Saravanan28Dec 14.2018 — Nofollow links helps your backlink profile look more genuine.

@johnmartDec 14.2018 — No Way, No-follows links help to increase backlinks for your website. No- Follows links also help to increase website traffic and more probability of getting new customers. The no-follow tag on a link tells a search engine not to follow that link. Essentially, you are closing the door to that link so the bots don't go there.
