I'm thinking about putting some pieces together to set up a small home server which I can use first as router (have 2 pc's at home) and second as way to store a small blog maybe as well as in development projects, so I could show the project to the client before having a final hosting set up.
I wouldn't need a static IP, a dynamic hostname does the job.
I have no experience in setting up servers.. only maintaining personal workstations. Antivirus and windows updates always to date and I keep it working.
Also, I want it to be a windows machine because I have no time to learn everything about linux right now.. I just want it to be functional and practical to set up. And mainly, I need IIS because I work essentially with ASP.
What version of windows would be the most recommended? What kind of concerns should I have besides having a firewall and an antivirus to protect myself from hackers and viruses/worms? What firewall and antivirus do you recommend?
I know many of you will say that with windows there's nothing I could do, but hey, if you're a linux-only-guy just don't reply!
